Who I Am I, Who We Are, 2010

Video Projection
Casablanca, Morocco

I made a digital projection where I drew each part separately in Adobe Photoshop. Then, I put all the parts together to make them move. The moving picture changes from a person to a question mark. It makes us think about who we are, what’s special about us, and how we’re different from others.

This project shows a challenge I faced when I was young. I was always trying to figure out my purpose. Was I meant to be a doctor, a writer, a sportsman, or something else? Who gets to decide who I am? It was a tough time, trying to understand my destiny, I tried to illustrate the time of curiosity in the frames. Our life is like a big question mark. I believe we should ask ourselves these questions every day to better understand our place and purpose in the world.
