Message for God, 2012

Site-Specific-Intervention
Lahore, Pakistan

In the artwork “Message for God,” I synchronized the digged hole and the idea with a metaphor. I tried to dialogue with God, which is why I chose a horizontal surface. I’m using the purpose of digging to criticize my society through my artwork. In my society, extremism has appeared very strongly over the last decade. Being an artist, I extremely dislike the act of extremism, but when behavior becomes unnatural or extraordinary, it starts to detract from the value and purpose of humanity. For instance, terrorism… murder in the name of God. This is unnatural behavior when the divine becomes more than divinity, and at that time, the notion of the divine becomes invalid. It has created a void in my society. In “Message for God,” I metaphorically manifest my message, that the purpose and value of humanity are becoming worthless.
