Constallation, 2011

Moscow, Russia

On the night before the creation of my artwork, I lay under the open winter sky and saw a scene of stars, the giant stars were in a pattern. As I gazed upwards, the stars formed mesmerizing patterns, their connections inspiring my thoughts and I began to print sketches of them in my head. This moment of inspiration was profound.

The following day, I found an abandoned sheet of bubble wrap. I cleaned it and affixed it to a wooden wall using black nails. This piece, which I named “Constellation,” was born from that celestial vision. The dynamic interplay of the stars suggested to me the presence of magnetic forces, pulling them together into a vast expanse, perhaps a million times greater than the window through which I observed this enchanting scene.
