Automata, 2015

Lahore, Pakistan

Automata is an autogenerated self-made structure. When you see state-of-the-art engineering, the automation within the structure offers a fine and fascinating functionality that conveys complex themes and narratives through its movingness and designs. Such structures in art are often manufactured to illustrate the issues and matters exist within us, and also suggest the study of human behavior that provokes many aspects of our “historical treadmill” which refers a cyclical pattern in which humanity continually creates and innovates yet often repeats similar patterns or faces analogous challenges throughout history.

Thinking about how people made things a long time ago, like the great pyramids and other ancient discoveries, still makes us wonder. We can’t fully understand how they were built because they’re so complex and impressive.

Automata serves as a testament to the complexity of the human mind, shedding light on its cognitive processes, behavioral intricacies, and existential inquiries. Through their intricate mechanisms and expressive movements, automata offer a glimpse into the essence of human existence and the ceaseless pursuit of innovation.
